Question:
I am a 56 year old male with RBBB (Bunny ears)shown on a ecg taken on pre op examination for an operation on Cubital tunnel nerve release on my left elbow what are the risks if a general anesthetic is used.

If you don’t have a history of heart disease, a previous heart attack and or hypertension, none. If present, they will increase your risk for major surgery, which this procedure is not. Every operation has its risks that need to balanced against the benefits of a successful procedure. RBBB by itself will not increase those risks. If your doctors consider your heart condition to be an additional risk for surgery you should have your heart checked with an echocardiogram or stress test. Treatment depends on what is found.

Hope this helps,
