I am 43, thin & healthy. I had one 12 hour bout with afib and all heart tests say perfectly normal…My bp is low and that was 4 yrs. ago…since I had 3 or 4 small 2-4 min. bouts and got myself calmed down and back to normal beat…these have all been during adrenaline or high stress times(like jogging for first time and running with no warm up on my treadmill) EP DR. said it won’t progress due to no structural defect and does not think I have an extra pathway…why is this happening??? I am upset and seeing a holistic dr. who thinks its my stressed adrenals all these yrs. p.s.-had palpitations in my 20’s and everything checked out good then too…tsh is fine and thyroid antibodies…I am stumped and confused…do you think it won’t be progressive as I age? I am so worried.
In some patients no specific cause can be found. However, if persistent, AF needs to be treated, both for your comfort and especially to protect against the potential consequences.
You can read more about AF here:
Apart from life style changes focused on avoiding the triggers of AF, you probably need expert help from a cardiologist specialized in arrhythmias to help you guide to the best solution.
Hope this helps,
