Hi.I have many Ectopic beats, and have an Anxiety Dissorder. I read somwhere that poeple with Anxiety, Social Phobia have Longer QT intervels.Am I ate risk? Thanks.


Don’t confuse apples & oranges. Sometimes patients with Long QT syndrome have an anxiety disorder, which does not mean the reverse is automatically also true!

If you have an abnormal rhythm, I assume you have undergone an evaluation that includes more than just an EKG, such as a Holter monitor test. Rhythm analysis determines your risk for Long QT Syndrome. Other tests will determine whether your heart function is normal. The first thing to find out is thus whether your heart is healthy otherwise, so you need to have some blood tests (including Thyroid), an EKG and 24 hour monitoring. That will determine the basics.

You’ll find these are rather common complaints and most people don’t need treatment, only reassurance once their heart proves OK. Read these, get your tests done and come back if you still have questions for me,
