Question:
I am 50 and female.  I have been having a few heart palpatations lately, and I have a history of anxiety so I am afraid that is making it worse!  As long as I am busy, I feel fine.  I have been walking because I am overweight.  After walking two miles I have mile burn under my sternum but I also blame that on reflux or asthma.  I have both mildly.  I am on Coumadin for Factor V Leiden.  50 and falling apart!  Does anxiety create heart palps, or Menopause?  Also, is a mild burn normal with asthma and reflux?  I will look into this, but I don’t want to worry myself to death until my appt.

Hi Regina,
Palpitations during menopause are common. The symptoms of Heart burn, while often associated wtih esophageal reflux, but can also be a symptom of heart disease. Therefore, you should have your heart checked. One way to do this is with a stress test. Check your risk for coronary artery disease here.

Hope this helps,
