Cardiac Risks

Question:

I had a scan and dr ssid my number was 6000. I’m 75 female with no symptoms. Doc now wants me to have stress test. What are possibility there is a problem and is stress test next best option. What about echocardiogram? Father and his mother died of heart prpblems in their 70’s. Thanks for your input.

Hi Pat,

A positive stress test means either a scar or an area of your heart that doesn’t get enough blood.
This is caused by Coronary Artery Disease, possibly complicated in the past by a Heart Attack.
Depending on your cardiac risks and possible cardiac symptoms you need further treatment.
Surely that will include recommendations for a heart healthy life style.
