Patients with unstable angina/non–ST-segmentelevation myocardial infarction (MI) (UA/NSTEMI) present witha wide spectrum of risk for death and cardiac ischemic events.

A simple risk score that has broadapplicability, is easily calculated at patient presentation, and identifies patients with differentresponses to treatments for UA/NSTEMI:

In patients with UA/NSTEMI, the TIMI riskscore is a simple prognostication scheme that categorizes apatient's risk of death and ischemic events and provides a basisfor therapeutic decision making.
