Soreness in my left arm and heart disease in women

Hi there, I've had intermittent discomfort (similar to a sore ache) in my left arm for a few weeks now (with occasional numbing in my left fingertips).  I have also experienced weakness in my left leg.  The discomfort is also intermittent in left side chest area.  I am wondering if this is muscle related or is it something I would need to have investigated more thoroughly?  I'm 49 years old and there is a history of heart disease in my family.  My father and brother both died suddenly in their mid 40's and my mother died from a stroke.  Many thanks!

Your symptoms don't appear cardiac, but rather neurological in origin. Of course, I only know your gender, age and family history and women often have atypical symptoms:
I certainly recommend you get yourself checked out!
Hope this helps,
Dr T
